Jam chartAnother nod to the sea (if not the scene), the song appears in the centerpiece slot, anchoring the second set, following a strong "NMINML." Tight, terse, and largely compact (play before the segue eventually bleeds) strong, if somewhat familiar play, seems to function as foundation for the night's heady highlight - Piper - which pleasantly, after a strong '24, remains on Trey's radar.

Jam chart> from "Strawberry Letter 23". The first set-closing "20YL" doesn't disappoint. By 6:20, Trey has played the jam away from a typical jam from the song; this is lighter. Behind his deft playing and Fish's fantastic drumming, this jam truly takes off. By 10:30, the band is locked in, the prowess of their great jamming in Fall '21 on full display. Things get a bit swampy before Trey guides the band back into the song proper.

But at about 8:00, Fish and Mike hook up and develop a high-power, pulsing and driving base. Chaos ensues, as spacey effects, unusual keyboards, and sick Mike create a throbbing, mind-blowing sensory assault.
